Punk Fashion

The challenge for this week was to create a punk look for Barbie.

      

The first look was created using black spandex, elastic, and safety pins.

      

The second look was created using scraps of tartan and blue ric-rac trim.

The third look was created using paper, staples, bottle-caps, and silky fabric.

Wedding Dresses

For this challenge each designer was asked to create a unique and special wedding dress for Barbie.

This princess-style look was created using soft pink satin and white tulle.

This colorful floral and red wedding gown is perfect for the bride who wants to be different.

                

This classic look was made using lace and white interfacing.

Musical Inspiration

For this challenge, each designer had to create a look for Barbie inspired by a song or piece of music of her choice.

                      

 

This cotton summer dress was inspired by the song "Feeling Good" by Nina Simone.

       

This silk and tulle look was inspired by the song "La Valse d'Amelie" from the French film Amelie.

International Inspiration

For this challenge each designer had to create a look for Barbie inspired by a specific country.

The first look, an embroidered skirt and top, was inspired by the colorful folklore of Mexico.

The second look, a burgundy satin evening dress, was inspired by the flamenco and matador traditions of Spain.

Plastic Fashion

The challenge for this week was to create a look for Barbie using plastic bags.

                                

  

This strapless sheath dress was made out of a Bimbo bread bag and the short rain jacket was made from a Thomas bagels bag.

This skirt, blouse and raincoat were made using three different shopping bags (blue, black, and silver).

Bookstore Inspiration

The challenge this week was to create a look for Barbie inspired by a book cover.

This cotton summer dress inspired by The Rough Guide to the Greek Islands allows Barbie to travel fashionably from island to island. 

 

The second look was inspired by the cover design of Another Piece of My Heart, and was made using white cotton canvas embellished with red metallic cord.

Fifth Avenue Collections

The challenge for this week was to create a look for Barbie that would fit into a designer collection displayed in the shop windows on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue.

This gray and floral non-woven fabric dress was inspired by the Blanc de Chine collection at 673 Fifth Avenue.

The second look, inspired by the Armani collection at 717 Fifth Avenue, was made using a metallic golden cotton-poly blend with soft pink lining material.

          

This black and white jersey dress was inspired by the Chanel collection on 57th Street between Madison and Fifth Avenue.
